Iran's Army Ground Force completed the final phase of the Authority 81 military exercises in Qom, South of Tehran, on Sunday.

In this phase, the jet-fighters of Iran's Air Force bombarded the targets of the hypothetical enemy, and then combat choppers of the Ground Force attacked the facilities and strongholds of the enemy amidst the support by the Iranian artillery, IRNA reported.

The choppers also paved the ground for the progress of army's infantry behind the enemy lines, the news agency reported. During this phase, the BPR-82 personnel carrier, produced by Iran's Ground Force defense industries, were used for the first time to protect the infantry and promote their mobilization capability.

The final phase of the Authority 81 wargames was attended by the former president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Minister of Information Ali Younessi, and several army commanders.

On the sidelines of the military war game, Rafsanjani said the US was waging a 'psychological war' against Iraq. "America is waging this psychological war in order to undermine Iraqi morale and threaten the world against opposing the wishes of the US," Rafsanjani aired. (Albawaba.com)
