Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi will visit Egypt in the coming few days for discussions with senior officials on global developments and their impact on the region, reported the official Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA).
The agency said Kharazi's talks would address the possibility of holding an urgent meeting for foreign ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
Iran has called for this meeting following recent terrorist attacks against the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington. Holding an OIC urgent meeting requires the approval of 30 countries out of the total 56 member states.
Meanwhile, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jasem bin Jaber Al Thani, whose country is currently chairing the OIC session, is expected to pay a visit to Tehran later Wednesday to discuss the possibility of holding this meeting, which is expected to be in the first week of October – Albawaba.com
