The city of Hammamet (about 60 kilometers south to Tunis) is going to host the International Festival of Percussion from June 23 to 26. The managing committee of the festival announced that the festival, which is going to be free of charge, is meant to promote the culture of modern tourism to the country and to take part in the efforts to endow it with a more modern image of hospitality.
La Presse reports that the lion share of the festival is going to be based on local Tunisian music but that at the same time it is also going to host a number of international artists and hopes to serve as "a platform for intercultural fusion."
