International Awards Ceremony honours UAE Foreign Minister

The palatial surroundings of the Bani Yas Ballroom in Dubai’s Grand Hyatt Hotel is to be the venue for The AlMahabba Awards 2006, where the special Personality of the Year award will be bestowed upon the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for his implementation of the Alborda Award, which honours those poets who praise Prophet Mohammed.

The groundbreaking new event, to be held at 8pm on October 26th – the fourth day of Eid – is set to become the World’s primary annual occasion for promoting the artistic expression of love for Prophet Mohammed and will feature prominent artists and speakers from around the globe.

This year’s expected 2,500 attendees will be able to enjoy a particular focus on music from internationally renowned Islamic performers including: SHAAM and Khaleel Muhammad from the UK, Native Deen from the USA, Tareq Fuad from Egypt, Zain Bhikha from South Africa and the UAE’s Osama Al-Safy amongst many others.

AlMahabba’s prestigious committee will present awards for: song, photography & painting, documentary, film, literature, advertising, media and crafts, with one of the highest honours going to the late Mustafa Alakkad who directed the movie Al Risala.

All the featured works of art have been selected for their ultimate standards of excellence, the promotion of love and understanding through creative expression and their adherence to Islamic principles.

The AlMahabba Awards will be a joyous event, to be broadcast via satellite TV, and is in essence a profound celebration of the humanitarian values of Prophet Mohammed and is intended to affirm His universal message of love and peace throughout the world today.
