intercontinental hotels group appoints new general manager at intercontinental abu dhabi
InterContinental Hotels Group has announced the appointment of Simon Stamper as the new General Manager at InterContinental Abu Dhabi.
Stamper takes the helm at the prestigious property following a multi-million dollar project, which has seen the enhancement of the entire hotel from guest rooms, to dining venues, as well as a stunning new lobby and re-designed conferencing facilities.
Previously General Manager at the largest Holiday Inn in EMEA, the 906-room Holiday Inn London Kensington Forum, Stamper brings with him almost 25 years of experience in hotel management, more than half of which has been with InterContinental Hotels Group.
Commenting on Stamper’s appointment, John Bamsey, Chief Operating Officer, InterContinental Hotels Group, said, “We are delighted to welcome Simon as General Manager of InterContinental Abu Dhabi, located in one of the most rapidly developing tourist destinations in the world. He has extensive experience in hotel management and an established record of leading teams to deliver great results.”
Stamper added, “I am delighted to return to the newly reopened InterContinental Abu Dhabi, where just over 17 years ago I began my career with IHG. Both the city and IHG have evolved and grown extensively in that time and I look forward to the new challenges ahead. ”
Stamper has held further General Manager positions at both Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn London Heathrow, as well as managerial roles at Athenaeum InterContinental Athens and Semiramis InterContinental Cairo.
As well as reopening InterContinental Abu Dhabi, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has just opened its 150th hotel globally at Dubai Festival City.
