The Institute for Vocational Development (IVD), a member of Abu Dhabi University Knowledge Group (ADUKG), has partnered with Windmills, a UK-based company, to provide structure frameworks and training programmes for corporate individuals and organisations in the UAE.
As part of their strategic collaboration, IVD and Windmills have organised a session at the Abu Dhabi University aimed at capitalising on the essential factors necessary to succeed in the market. Entitled ‘Are you maximising your most important asset – your employees?’, the event took place in the presence of a number of VIPs along with leading HR and Training decision makers from the public and private sectors.
The two-hour free session highlighted how human resources have been used in organisations of a variety of sizes and in a variety of sectors to support business priorities such as graduate development and talent management.
“Since IVD’s establishment, we have been dedicated to provide a comprehensive range of vocational training programmes for companies and corporations to better enhance their employees’ skills and expertise. Some companies are yet to take full advantage of their workforce’s full potential to contribute in driving their success in the market,” said Richard Firth, Director of IVD.
“Windmills is one of the leading training programmes providers in the UK, and together with them, we are able to offer our participants with a framework and thorough programmes which will equip them of the right skills needed to meet the demands and requirements of not only the UAE market but the entire GCC as well,” he added.
Included in the interactive session was a topic on taking control of professional and career development, which provided an evaluation of career learning and development including steps necessary to progress on chosen professional path. Presented by Helen Wakefield, Head of Windmills Learning and Development at the University of Liverpool, participants were given the tried and tested Windmills framework in three stages – Where am I now?, Where do I want to be?, and How will I get there?
This topic included a review of professional journey with successes and challenges highlighted. There were also other issues tackled in the session including analysis of skills, career motivators, networking skills and analysis of potential barriers and enablers among others.
