Three policewomen and two female prisoners were treated for smoke inhalation Tuesday after an inmate started a fire in a Jordanian jail dormitory, security sources said.

The incident occurred in Jweida prison near the capital of Amman after a prisoner set ablaze a mattress in an effort to provoke a riot, they said.

According to AFP, the three policewomen and two detainees were hospitalized suffering from smoke inhalation, the sources said, adding that the fire was quickly put out. (Albawaba.com)
