Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee Monday said New Delhi's unilateral cease-fire in Kashmir, enforced for the Muslim month of Ramadan, could be extended if Pakistan created a "conducive atmosphere," the Press Trust of India reported.
Speaking at India's Navy Day celebrations, Vajpayee was quoted as saying the extension of the cease-fire "also depended on the reality on the ground.
"Pakistan should stop cross border terrorism, violence and maintain a friendly posture," he said.
India's unilateral cease-fire came into force on November 27 at midnight across the troubled Kashmir Valley. It was rejected by most Islamic separatist groups who have vowed to step up attacks during the period -- NEW DELHI (AFP)
