India's Minister of Defense has warned Pakistan not to make "irresponsible statements" concerning a nuclear confrontation with his country.
Minister George Fernandes told a summit in Hyderbad, India on Tuesday that Pakistan would "cease to exist" in the event of a nuclear war with its neighboring country.
The minister was referring to earlier remarks made by Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf that implied Pakistan was prepared for a nuclear confrontation when tensions heightened between the hostile neighbors last year.
"They (Pakistan) should not make such irresponsible statements," Fernandes was quoted as saying by Press Trust of India (PTI). "They don't help them, don't help us, don't help the world," he said.
"We can take a bomb or two or more ... but when we respond there will be no Pakistan," the news agency further quoted Fernandes as saying. (Albawaba.com)
