Faten Hamama had refused to act alongside Hussein Fahmy in her latest TV series. The actor said he had already bought all the costumes necessary for the role; yet Hamama stuck by her request. Finally, the producers of the series succumbed to her request and Fahmy was asked to step down from the role. The actor was so insulted that as Chairman of the Cairo Film Festival, he had decided to remove Faten Hamama’s picture from the festival’s yearly poster. However, the actor revoked his decision upon various requests.
