Yemeni forces loyal to President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi and Saudi Arabia claimed it has captured a senior commander of Yemen's Houthi rebels, Reuters reported.

The forces, known as the Southern Resistance movement, claimed the capture of military commander Abdul-Khaliq al-Houthi on its official Twitter account Saturday. Reuters said it couldn't independently verify the information.

Brother of Houthi leader Abdul-Malek al-Houthi, the senior leader played a crucial role in the rebels' capture of Sanaa and was one of the few Houthi leaders blacklisted by the UN Security Council earlier this year.
