The head of Hizbollah movement threatened Monday to destroy the United States' embassy in Israel if it was transferred from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, reported AFP.

Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, quoted by the Lebanese press, said the diplomats would be sent back to the United States in coffins.

"The Palestinian people and every honest person must tell the Americans: You can transfer your embassy to Jerusalem but your embassy will be transformed into ruins and your diplomats will return home in coffins," he threatened.

US President Bill Clinton said on Friday he would seriously consider the possibility of moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, adding that a decision would be made by the end of the year.

Nasrallah said the possible US move was aimed against all Arabs and Muslims, and called on Palestinians to revert to the option of fighting, following the failure of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks last week, reported Reuters.

“After the failure of Camp David-2, Clinton wants to recognize Jerusalem as a united, eternal capital of Israel. On whom are they exerting pressure? It is not on the Palestinian negotiators who conceded everything a long time ago, but on all Muslims and Arabs,” Nasrallah said.

“Because Jerusalem might face a new occupation, you have to go back to the option of resistance and Jihad (holy war) and to reject American help and money,” Nasrallah added.

The State Department had no immediate comment on the Hizbollah threat, said Reuters – (Several Sources)
