Lebanese Hizbollah movement leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah said Sunday that there could be an exchange of prisoners with Israel before the Israeli elections on February 6.
"A special effort is being taken and there are attempts to reach some sort of outcome before the elections," Sheikh Nasrallah said on television.
The three Israeli soldiers, snatched by Hizbollah in October, should be enough to persuade Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak "to reach an exchange for our prisoners in Israel," Nasrallah said.
"If not, we are telling him that we are ready to capture other soldiers to reach a just settlement to this issue," he said.
The Shiite Muslim movement Hizbollah, which spearheaded armed opposition to Israel's 22-year occupation of southern Lebanon, also is holding a fourth Israeli, who it says was a spy -- BEIRUT (AFP)
