The Lebanese Hizbollah movement has condemned Qatar’s decision to allow Israel to take part in the World Trade Organization (WTO) conference in Doha this November, reported the Daily Star newspaper.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the group said the Qatari move was an “irresponsible act” that violated Arab summit resolutions calling for all ties with Israel to be severed.

“It is surprising for a brotherly Arab country to decide to allow a delegation from the Israeli enemy to enter its territory under the pretext of participating in meetings or conferences,” the statement said.

On June 13, Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal Al Thani, head of the Qatari committee helping to organize the November WTO conference, confirmed that Israeli would be taking part in the meeting.

So far, Egypt, Jordan and Oman have said that they will attend the meeting.

Last November, Qatar closed down an Israeli trade office in Doha on the eve of an Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) summit there, at the urging of other Arab and Islamic countries – Albawaba.com
