ALBAWABA — Following bombings on Beirut's southern suburbs, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah was declared martyred. An organization statement explained the news.
In their statement, Hezbollah cited the Quran:
"Let those who sacrifice this world for Allah struggle for the Hereafter. Whoever dies or wins for Allah will get a huge reward." (Quran)
Nasrallah, a "noble leader of the resistance, a faithful servant, and a courageous, wise, and insightful commander," accompanied the Karbala martyrs on the everlasting divine journey with the prophets and martyr imams, according to the statement.
The Israeli army confirmed the assassination of the leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, in an airstrike in the suburb of Beirut on Friday.
Earlier reports by Israel revealed that the army had carried out a series of airstrikes on Hezbollah's headquarters in Beirut's southern suburb targeting Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.
Military spokesperson Daniel Hagari acknowledged the air force's assault on Hezbollah's primary command center and said the military would continue to target "terrorist threats" against Israeli citizens in Lebanon.
In addition, Israeli Army Radio added that F-35 fighter planes knocked out bunkers with 2,000-pound bombs. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden confirmed that America was not informed about the airstrike on Beirut's suburb earlier on Friday and didn't participate in it.
Following the attack, the British government called its citizens in Lebanon to leave immediately amid possible escalation between Hezbollah and Israel.
On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu cut his short visit to the US and returned to Tel Aviv to stay posted with the latest news on the airstrike in Beirut.
Hamas movement released a statement condemning the "terrorist aggression on the southern suburb of Beirut".
