ALBAWABA- Lebanese sources informed Reuters that the Israeli airstrike in Beirut's southern suburb failed to assassinate senior Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukr. The strike, however, resulted in the deaths of two civilians and injured 12 others.
Two security sources confirmed that Shukr survived the attack, which targeted him due to his alleged link to a recent missile attack on the Golan Heights.
In a statement, Hezbollah declared, "The one they were aiming at is alive. Wait for his revenge for the blood of those who died and were wounded."
Meanwhile, the US Secretary of Defense reiterated America's strong support for Israel, stating that the United States is prepared to defend Tel Aviv if Hezbollah retaliates.
The US is also pushing for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.
