ALBAWABA - Loud blasts were heard in the Sudanese capital Khartoum as clashes and fighting continue between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, Al-Jazeera reported on Wednesday.

This comes amid news that the Sudanese army is advancing in the capital. It recently captured a major bridge connecting the east of Khartoum to the south, days after it reclaimed control of its northern part from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The Sudanese army has in recent weeks re-took control of a large area of the capital and its surrounding areas from the rival group (RSF), as the conflict nears the two-year mark.

The Sudanese Armed Forces, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces have been engaged in a war since Ramadan 2023. Since the Sudanese war began, at least 57 members of a local humanitarian volunteer network have been killed during clashes.

Associated Press reported citing the United Nations that more than 24,000 people were killed and over 14 million people were forced to leave their homes.

Yesterday, a Sudanese military plane crashed in Omdurman resulting in the deaths of several senior officers and crew members, according to local media.
