Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri met Tuesday in Jeddah with Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd for talks on the Palestinian crisis and bilateral relations, reported the Daily Star.
Discussions focused on the regional situation in the light of an escalation in Israeli aggression in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
The premier also met with Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdelaziz and Defense and Aviation Minister Prince Sultan, who said later that the talks covered “various issues.”
Meanwhile, following his talks with Saudi leaders, Hariri had a telephone conversation with French President Jacques Chirac, said the paper.
The two men reviewed the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Hariri said the international community should deal with the peace process as a whole, rather than separating the various tracks.
He added that discussions should also take place with the goal of implementing UN resolutions on south Lebanon, the occupied Golan Heights and the Palestinian territories.
Lebanon is concerned about Israel's refusal to withdraw from the occupied Shabaa Farms, which the Jewish state orginally captured from Syria.
The Syrians maintain that the area was given to Lebanon and therefore should have been vacated when Israeli forces withdrew from south Lebanon in May 2000 - Albawaba.com
