Hamas said on Thursday a truce agreement with Israel on the Gaza Strip would most likely be declared in the next three days. "Most of the obstacles that prevented us from reaching an agreement were resolved and an announcement of a deal is expected within three days," said Taher al-Nono, a member of Hamas' negotiating team in Cairo.
According to Reuters, Nono stated the agreement would ensure the end of all violence in the Strip and the opening of the territory's border crossings.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will attend an upcoming international conference in Egypt to help rebuild Gaza Strip after the Hamas-Israel war, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit said Thursday. "Yes, the secretary will be coming to Cairo on the second of March," Abul Gheit told reporters after meeting with Clinton in Washington to discuss the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.
"We expect lots of commitments from everybody, lots of commitments for the reconstruction" during the conference, he added, according to AFP.
