Former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev criticized the United States for launching war against Iraq, saying Washington should have expected Iraqis to reject the occupation of their country.
Gorbachev said ousting Saddam Hussein would not help end
the violence in the Middle East or cement "democracy" in
Iraq. The US should have tried harder to reach a
solution using diplomacy, he explained.
"The democratic process ... should not be implemented by
tanks and missiles," Gorbachev said during his stay in Las Vegas. (Albawaba.com)
