GOP Russian Delegation Visit

The General Organisation of Sea Ports (GOP) hosted a high-level delegation from Russia, led by  His Excellency Mr Vladimir Dmitriev,  Chairman of ‘Vnescheconombank” and Co-Chairman of the Russian-Bahraini Business Council (RBBC), and accompanied by His Excellency Mr. Oleg Aldoshin,  Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, and His Excellency Mr. Andrey Slepnev, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation at its headquarters in Hidd today. 

The delegation was received by GOP Chairman Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa, GOP Director General Hassan Ali AlMajed, and senior management officials representing maritime affairs and the Bahrain Logistics Zone (BLZ).

During the meeting, Shaikh Daij welcomed the delegation and then proceeded on discussing the importance of developing and building stronger economic and investment ties between the two countries and underlined the pivotal role that Khalifa Bin Salman Port and BLZ play in enhancing the trade relations. He encouraged the exchange of information, expertise, and visits between the two nations, and expressed his hopes that KBSP’s strategic location as a gateway to the Northern Gulf will enable closer business ties and mutual benefits to the Russian Federation and the region.

The Chairman of RBBC  expressed his appreciation to the Chairman of GOP for the opportunity to visit the GOP and reaffirmed the importance of building bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain in the various fields including the maritime and logistics industry.

The delegation was then presented with an overview about GOP’s objectives and activities. Following the presentation, the delegation took a tour of the new Khalifa Bin Salman Port in Hidd where the members saw first-hand the new state-of-the-art facility which became operational in April last year and was officially inaugurated by His Majesty the King in December 2009.
