A statue of India’s Mahatma Ghandi has been installed in the Yemeni port of Aden, reported the weekly Yemen Times.

The statue was a gift from the Indian government, said the weekly.

"The gift is aimed at externalizing the memories of Gandhi during his visit to Aden in the 1940s. He stayed in the city for some time before heading to the UK to attend the Constitutional Conference regarding the Independence of India," said India’s ambassador to Yemen, Mohinder Singh Suman – Albawaba.com
