An informative workshop on the subject of ‘Developmental Trajectory of Children with Conduct Problems’ will comprehensively address the crucial issue of deviant child development at the Abu Dhabi debut of GETEX (The Global Education and Training Exhibition), which will be held at the Abu Dhabi Beach Rotana Hotel and Towers, from November 16 to18, 2005.
“Seminars and workshops perform the crucial task of educating the visitors about the evolving trends in the educational and related sectors,” said Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, IC&E, the organiser of GETEX. “The focus of GETEX is to offer a comprehensive overview about a child’s projected educational and career paths and to mould the decision making process which benefits the students. The workshops and seminars are designed to address the questions that may arise while charting the child’s educational prospects and progress.”
A whole range of Seminars and Workshops are planned for the three days of GETEX Abu Dhabi, covering areas like; learning styles and choices, career guidance tools, general educational information and career trends. Workshop topics include Self-Evaluation/Assessment - For Effective Career Mapping; Education Timeline - Strategies for High School Students; Learning for Life in the Student Centred Classroom; Learning Styles: Tips & Techniques to Optimise your Study Skills; and Starting a Career & Life Choices Programme in your School.
The workshop on ‘Developmental Trajectory of Children with Conduct Problems’ will be presented by Dr Marie Ann J. Sunga Vargas, a clinical psychologist from the Graduate School of the University of Santo Thomas and a leading expert on child development issues. The seminar will be of interest to parents and teachers who wish to understand the causes of conduct disorders like ADHD (Attention Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder) and oppositional defiant disorder amongst children that lead to academic underachievement, deficit social skills and performance, and negative behavioral outcomes.
The Seminars programme at GETEX Abu Dhabi will include diverse topics such as How the ‘dynamic information age’ affects a country’s finance, business, social, legal, economic, management, manufacturing and information and communication systems; Career Opportunities and Degree Level Education for Tourism and Hospitality Management; Teaching As Inquiry – Preparing Teachers for the Future; and Importance of developing business functions such as logistics and delivery, finance and accounting, purchasing and procurement, operational management, marketing and sales and human resource management.
GETEX Abu Dhabi is held under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Education. The exhibition will highlight a wide selection of study options to the spring intake of international universities.
