Gunmen kidnapped a German diplomat in the Yemeni capital on Friday, police told AFP.
The kidnap victim was believed to be the embassy's commercial attaché and third secretary, Stefan Messerer, a police source said. He was seized around 8:30 a.m. (0530 GMT) while driving through the diplomatic quarter of Sanaa.
The identity and whereabouts of the kidnappers were unknown, the source said, adding they were believed to be tribesmen.
The German embassy, contacted by AFP, declined to comment -- SANAA (AFP)
