A Georgian spy is hoping to break into the Guinness Book of Records by swimming two kilometers (more than a mile) in a swimming pool with his arms and legs tied, witnesses at the poolside said.
The head of the Georgian security services information department Genri Kuprashvili Sunday set what he said was a world record by covering the distance in one hour, 32 minutes and 38 seconds and hoped the compilers of the best-selling Guinness publication would notice his achievement.
He regretted that the Guinness compilers have no category of records for tied-up swimmers.
Georgia is partial to setting world records and already has three Guinness record-holders.
These are Dmitry Kiknadze, who lifted 25 kilograms (55 pounds) in weights tied to his ears, Georgy Makhardze, who traveled 20 kilometers (12 miles) juggling a ball with his feet, and Dzhumber Lezhava who did more than 3,000 press-ups -- TBILISI (AFP)
