After their recent merge, leading international carriers SWISS International Airlines and Lufthansa have announced new benefits and frequent flyer rewards targeting travellers from the region.
Only two weeks after the airlines received cartel clearance, members of SWISS TravelClub and Miles & More can already benefit from the advantage the new partnership brings. From July 20, SWISS and Lufthansa passengers will enjoy more ways in which to earn mileage points as well as reciprocal lounge access.
Swiss TravelClub members will be able to earn Club Miles on all Lufthansa-operated scheduled flights. They can also redeem previously earned miles for Lufthansa Free Tickets. Conversely, members of Miles & More can earn award and status miles on SWISS-operated flights and book award flights with SWISS.
“The integration allows passengers on either airline to benefit from an expanded route network and an even larger service offering. These benefits come at an excellent time as travel between the GCC and central Europe is steadily increasing. Travellers to and from the region are sure to enjoy the new routes, convenient destination connections, and mileage incentives,” said Felix Rodel, Area Manager Middle East, Pakistan and Iran, SWISS.
Reciprocal lounge access is available from July 20. Members of Swiss Circle and Swiss Travel-Club Gold may use Lufthansa Senator Lounges when flying with Lufthansa. In return, HON Circle members and Senators of the Miles & More programme have access to Swiss First and Swiss Business Class lounges respectively whenever they fly SWISS.
All customers continue to enjoy extra baggage allowance, priority baggage handling and accelerated boarding on SWISS and Lufthansa flights.
Services will be further harmonized with the introduction of the coming
Winter timetable 2005/2006 and when SWISS joins the Star Alliance, which is
expected to happen by Summer 2006.
