ALBAWABA - In the aftermath of a temporary ceasefire brokered between Hamas and Israel, essential humanitarian aid, comprising food, water, medical supplies, and other crucial materials, has reached Gaza.

The Rafah border crossing saw the entry of 150 trucks, delivering aid – four of them carrying cooking gas and three loaded with fuel. Simultaneously, Palestinian ambulances crossed into Egypt via Rafah to attend to the injured. Nevertheless, amid attempts by Palestinians to return to their homes, some tragic incidents unfolded, resulting in casualties.

Following the initiation of the first temporary humanitarian ceasefire between Israel and Hamas on Friday, hundreds of thousands of Gazans have received vital humanitarian assistance. The Rafah border crossing spokesperson on the Gaza side reported the entry of 150 trucks, including those with cooking gas and fuel.

In addition, The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) has declared the shipment of 15 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza. EMERCOM specified that the aid includes food items, baby formula, sleeping bags, hygiene products, and clothing. The ministry further noted that the distribution of these supplies would be carried out by the Egyptian Red Crescent.

Concurrently, Palestinian ambulances traversed the Rafah border into Egypt to provide medical aid to the wounded. Gazans stranded in Egypt also commenced their return to Gaza. While Palestinian authorities urged the displaced in the northern part of Gaza to return home, Israel issued a warning against any movement towards the north during the ceasefire.

One resident conveyed, "I used to reside in the heart of Gaza before the displacement. I desire to return home and inspect. A secure corridor from the north to the south of the Gaza Strip should be established. We are unwavering in our commitment to our lands. Despite Israel's objections, we will reclaim our homes. We hope mediators will intervene to ensure compliance with the ceasefire."

Another returning resident shared, "I am heading back to check on my home, family, and children. Displaced here with my children, I aspire to return home. Observing people attempting to return, encountering gunfire and the deployment of Israeli tanks is disheartening."

Reports from Palestinian health and security sources indicated that at least two Palestinians, attempting to return home without Israeli permission, lost their lives, while others sustained injuries.
