ALBAWABA - Gaza truce talks which have been taking place in Cairo finished today with no agreement reached between Hamas and Israel.

According to Al Jazeera, Israel rejected Hamas' request for a permanent ceasefire, the army's withdrawal from Gaza, and the return of the displaced without conditions.

Talks were resumed this week in Egypt for a possible truce in the Gaza Strip which was expected to take place for six weeks. Delegations from Qatar, Hamas, and the United States gathered in Cairo to discuss a possible truce before Ramadan.

Earlier reports showed that Cairo, Washington and Doha have been playing a main role in the past few weeks to stop the war in Gaza which started last October.

Today, the Gaza Ministry of Health reported that at least 30,800 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli aggression in addition to 72,298 injuries since last October.

On Wednesday, Jamie McGoldrick, the UN’s Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, said: "Hunger has reached catastrophic levels."

He also urged for a military access road to northern Gaza for a minimum of 300 aid trucks every day as famine fears spread after the death of at least 20 babies due to hunger.
