ALBAWABA- US President-elect Donald Trump hailed the historic ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, describing it as "the beginning of great things to come."

Trump expressed his commitment to building on the Abraham Accords and advancing peace through strength across the region.

He pledged to work with Israel and its allies to ensure Gaza does not become a "safe haven for terrorists" and revealed that a hostage agreement in the Middle East would lead to their release soon.

Trump's envoy to the Middle East informed Arab nations of the truce deal's completion and urged Israel to cease hostilities immediately.

The ceasefire agreement ends 466 days of conflict between Hamas and Israel. Celebrations erupted across Gaza as the deal was announced.

The agreement's first phase includes a humanitarian protocol under mediator supervision, enabling wounded Gazans to travel abroad for medical treatment.

Israel will release around 2,000 prisoners, including 250 serving life sentences, and gradually withdraw military forces, starting with a pullback to 700 meters inside the Gaza border and a phased reduction in the Philadelphi corridor.
