ALBAWABA - A major gas pipeline explosion on Al Wahat Road in 6th of October City sparks massive fire, injuries, and road closures.

Al Wahat Road in 6th of October City was the location of a massive explosion that occurred in a main gas pipeline in the evening of Wednesday, April 30, 2025.  A big fire was caused as a consequence of this, with flames and smoke rising for a considerable distance.  In the vicinity, there were at least seven persons hurt and four automobiles that were burnt.

Along Al Wahat Road, there is a fire in a main gas pipeline.

An explosion and fire were reported to have occurred on Al Wahat Road, which is located close to Nawal University, according to the Civil Protection Operations Room.

A huge number of fire engines and ambulances were immediately deployed by the necessary authorities, and a wide security cordon was erected around the fire site in order to prevent residents from approaching and to ensure the safety of emergency personnel.

There was a breach in the gas pipeline, which led to the leaking and ignition of huge amounts of natural gas, which resulted in the destruction of numerous parked automobiles and caused casualties. The first investigations revealed that the explosion was caused by the rupture occurring in the gas pipeline.  Both Sheikh Zayed Specialized Hospital and October Central Hospital treated the wounded patients after they were sent there for medical attention.

In order to control and confine the fire, the Civil Defense troops are continuing their operations this moment.  In order to prevent any more dangers from occurring, the road has been shut down in both directions, and passengers have been rerouted to use alternate routes.

The location of the explosion has been investigated by teams of technical and expert investigators in order to discover the precise reasons of the explosion.  Continuous efforts are being made to ensure safety and ventilation until the situation is completely under control.

In order to safeguard the safety of the general public, the relevant authorities strongly recommend that people avoid the area and adhere to the directions that have been given by security services.
