ALBAWABA - The Israeli occupation minister, Benny Gantz, has given a severe warning, threatening to leave the interim government in Israel if a contentious conscription bill is approved in its current form. There has been a lot of discussion about the law lately.

In a broadcast speech, Gantz voiced his worries, emphasizing that the conscription bill's existing wording would jeopardize national security and solidarity, especially during times of crisis.

He underlined the seriousness of the situation, hinting that if the law is passed as is, he and his political supporters might not be able to continue serving in the administration.

"Times of Israel" reported that Gantz said, "If the conscription law is passed in this form, we will not be able to remain in the emergency government," in a video message.
He also stated, "Passing such a law is a red line, and in times of war, it is like a black flag flying above this red line."

According to the "Yedioth Ahronoth" newspaper, the proposed bill has caused a great deal of controversy because it does not establish a quota for ultra-Orthodox Jewish men who enlist each year and puts the exemption age at 35, guaranteeing that Haredim who choose not to enlist would not be prosecuted.

Within Israeli political circles, the divisive topic of conscription exemptions for specific religious groups—the Haredim in particular—has generated intense discussion. The leader of the opposition, Yair Lapid, is fiercely against the planned legislation, calling it a reflection of "the most dismal government in Israel's history."
