ALBAWABA- In a devastating incident, a train traveling from Prague to Budapest collided with a bus in southern Slovakia on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of at least four people and serious injuries to five others, officials reported.
The collision occurred shortly after 5 p.m. (1500 GMT) in the town of Nove Zamky, according to police and the Slovak railway company ZSSK. The Eurocity train had more than 100 passengers on board at the time.
Slovakia's rescue service confirmed the fatalities and injuries. Video footage from the scene showed the train's engine engulfed in flames, while the bus sustained severe damage.
Slovakia’s Interior Minister, Matus Sutai Estok, is en route to the accident site, police said.
Due to the collision, the main train route connecting Slovakia’s capital, Bratislava, with Budapest has been closed indefinitely.
The stranded passengers from the train are being transported by buses to the town of Sturovo, near the Hungarian border, ZSSK confirmed.
