Former Greek Catholic archbishop of Jerusalem Monsignor Hilarion Capucci threw a stone at Israel on Saturday during a visit to Lebanon.
On his way to the Fatima Gate border post, Capucci stopped in the town of Bent Jbail to meet with Sheikh Nabil Qaouq, the southern Lebanon Hizbollah leader.
When he reached the Lebanese-Israeli border, Capucci picked up a stone and hurled it in the direction of the Israeli territory.
"I wish I had been with the heroes of the Intifada (uprising) to take part in their battle for the independence of Palestine," Capucci told reporters.
Capucci, a 78-year-old Palestinian, has lived in Rome since 1977 when he left Jerusalem under a deal between Israel and the Vatican after having served three years of a 12-year jail sentence for transporting guns and belonging to "terrorist organizations."
He belonged to Fatah, the Palestine Liberation Organization's main faction, and was a member of the Palestine National Council, the PLO's parliament-in-exile -- KFAR KILA, Lebanon (AFP)
