A former Bahraini official at the labor ministry was indicted Saturday with bribery charges, reported the Gulf Daily News.
It said that a Bahrain businessman paid the former official BD40,000 to forge 284 work permits so he could recruit foreign workers.
The accused, who no longer works for the ministry, was given a computer as an additional bribe, said the paper.
The prosecution said a number of businessmen together with other former employees at the interior ministry and the immigration and passports directorate were also implicated in the affair.
The paper said, however, that two witnesses appeared in court Saturday and dismissed the allegations, claiming the accused had followed legal procedures.
The case was adjourned to a future date, it said – Albawaba.com
