Morocco’s economy is expected to post a 6.1 percent growth in 2002, according to forecasts released by a think-tank on Tuesday.
The Le Centre Marocain de Conjoncture (CMC)’s optimism is triggered by the drought-alleviation program worth 7.5 billion DH (about $652.17 million) and another Hassan II fund program, meant to give momentum to the economy, reported the official Maghrebe Arab Presse (MAP).
This program is worth 7 billion DH (nearly $ 608.69 million).
Experts also said the trade deficit which seriously worsened in 2001 will be curbed in 2002 thanks to an expected 7.8 percent improvement of exports against a 6 percent progression of imports – Albawaba.com
