Israeli helicopters fired missiles at a house in the Jabalya refugee camp next to Gaza City early Monday, destroying it, witnesses and security officials said. Five neighbors were injured by the blasts, they told the AP.
The house belonged to a Fatah activists, officials said. Israeli soldiers warned him to leave the building before the attack, they said. The Israeli army said the target was a house used by a "terror" activist for storing weapons and confirmed that he was warned to leave.
Meanwhile, a deal has been reached in which captured Israeli soldier Cpl. Gilad Shalit will be exchanged for 1,400 Palestinian prisoners, the Qatar-based A-Sharq newspaper reported on Monday. According to the newspaper, the exchange will be completed within the next 48 hours.
It added that as part of the agreement Israel would release funds to the Palestinian Authority, while suicide bombings and Qassam rocket attacks on Israel would cease.
