Fears were expressed in Britain Friday that the first computer virus to affect mobile phones, identified in Norway, could hit the UK, reported Iranian news agency (IRNA) from London Saturday.

The virus, which freezes keys on phones, is said to be passed on by the short messaging service SMS, used to send texts between mobiles. Previous claims of mobile viruses are thought to have been all hoaxes, according to the report.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the virus has so far only struck Nokia phones. The Finnish company has not confirmed its phones have been affected, but a spokesman was quoted saying its phones would be altered, if necessary, to make them immune, said IRNA – Albawaba.com
