First British and Irish Food Festival in Hotel Al Khozama

After the great success of the last Australian and Holland Food festivals, Riyadh’s most beloved hotel continues to set the bar for innovative culinary events with the announcement of the British and Irish Food Festival. The festival is held in cooperation with the British Embassy and the Embassy of Ireland.

Starting from the 9th to the 31st May, Hotel Al Khozama’s mist-cooled Garden Barbeque will bring to Riyadh residents and hotel guests tastes from England and Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland. A variety of traditional starters, main courses and main dishes such as pies, fish and chips, and Roast beef from England, Haggis from Scotland, Irish stew and special lamb dishes from Wales in addition to a variety of dishes from the Indian cuisine which has become a part of the British cuisine, are only a sample of what awaits the gourmets of Riyadh.

Hotel Al Khozama’s Irish Chef Gareth Carberry with his team will be working with the British visiting chef Oliver Ridgeway to offer their best recipes. Chef Ridgeway is the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Director at the award-winning Anasazi Restaurant at Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi in Santa Fe, one of New Mexico's most highly acclaimed culinary destinations. The festival combines expansive buffet selections and exciting live cooking stations.

Hotel Al Khozama, A Rosewood Hotel, created the festival in partnership with the British and the Irish Embassies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  The famous bagpipe player Gavin Moffat, will play at the opening ceremony. Gavin served as a piper with the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, after which he was tasked with forming and training the Royal Guard Mounted pipe band at the Sultanate of Oman.

The event is supported by UK Trade & Investment, BMI, SABB, Tourism Island, Bord Bia and, and Hawkshead Relish Company. All participating organizations will be represented during the period of the event in the Garden BBQ. At the end of the event, there will be a raffle draw and the lucky winner will be offered a flight for 2 persons, courtesy of BMI, to the UK or Ireland.

From 7.30pm until 11:30pm, the hotel’s Garden Barbeque embraces the festive spirit of the UK and Ireland.  The décor will reflect the UK and Irish ambiance. Hotel Al Khozama, owned by Al Khozama Management Company (AKMC), has been the center of the social life in Riyadh for the last 31 years.
