ALBAWABA - The first group of aid trucks has entered the Gaz Strip as part of the ceasefire deal that was agreed between Hamas and Israel last Wednesday, the United Nations confirmed Sunday.

In a televised interview with CNN, UNRWA Director of Communications Juliette Touma said: "Our teams are on the ground, we have thousands of UNRWA employees who are seasoned aid workers. As soon as the aid is allowed into #Gaza, we will deliver to the shelters and the people in need."

In addition to allowing more aid to enter Gaza, Israel will be requested to release dozens of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of several Israeli hostages taken by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.

Ynet news reported that Romi Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher are the first hostages expected to be released from Gaza and return to Israel through the Netzarim Corridor.

During the first phase of the ceasefire deal, 33 hostages will be released from Gaza in exchange for the release of thousands of Palestinians held in Israeli jails.
