The father of a 10-year-old Nigerian boy stabbed to death on a rundown south London estate as he walked home from school pleaded Wednesday for his killers to be brought to justice.
The murder of Damilola Taylor on November 27, only a few months after his family had moved him from Lagos, stunned Britain.
He bled to death in a stairwell on the North Peckham estate, apparently after being attacked by a gang of black teenagers and staggering 100 yards (meters) with blood pouring from a sliced artery in his leg.
His mother had complained that he was being bullied at school.
Richard Taylor, his father, flew to London earlier this week from his home in Lagos, where he still works. He visited the scene of the crime Saturday.
His son's blood has since been found on two broken bottles found close to the body.
Taylor spoke of the young life which had been so cruelly snuffed out. "We all loved him very much. Damilola was a boy with a promising future."
"Since he came here with his mother because of the illness of his sister (in Britain for treatment for epilepsy) he used his time learning about computers, made great friends and enjoyed playing football."
Damilola would have been 11 on Thursday.
Police are still appealing for information about the attack. Two youths and an adult woman were arrested at the weekend and later released.
Detective Superintendent David Dillnutt said two more knives found in the area were undergoing forensic tests -- LONDON (AFP)
