Iran's civil aviation authority announced Wednesday that a pilot's failure to correctly use a cockpit global positioning system (GPS) was behind last month's crash of a Ukranian plane in central Iran.
IRNA quoted aviation official Reza Jafarzadeh as saying an investigation by Iranian, Russian and Ukrainian officials had drawn the conclusion of pilot error from the Antonov An-140's two "black box" flight data recorders.
Most of the 44 victims of the tragic crash were Ukrainian engineers. Several Russians were also killed in the crash. (Albawaba.com)
