The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) agreed to fund 28 farming projects in Algeria with a total value of $11.2 million, Algeria’s official news Agency reported.
Algeria’s agriculture minister Said Barkat was quoted by the agency as saying that Algeria obtained in its recent meeting with FAO manager in Rome, Jacques Diouf, an agreement for the funding of the 28 projects, including 17 farming projects, 7 fishing projects and 4 water resources projects of a value of $400,000 for each project."
FAO's decision, according to the minister, reflects the good grasp of the situation in Algeria and of the national plan for the development of agriculture (PNDA) by the organisation's specialists and experts," which, after a ten year absence, will open next May an office in Algiers that will be inaugurated by Diouf – Albawaba.com
