Following months of fund-raising and preparation, the Oman Whale and Dolphin Research Team is about to embark on a two-week research trip to Dhofar, where they plan to study humpback whales, Oman Observer reported.

The daily said, Ken Findlay, an internationally renowned expert on humpback whales, will be joining the team to assist with the collection of data on the distribution, behavior and genetics of the whales found in Oman's waters.

The core team of volunteer scientists is led by Robert Baldwin, a marine ecologist who has been living in Oman and studying Oman's whales and dolphins for over ten years. The team will also use the opportunity to collect as much information as possible on other species of whales and dolphins they encountered off the coast of Dhofar -- Albawaba.com
