Strong Demand for Places at World Class Coaching Course; Young Players from across the Region learn to Play like their Footballing Heroes

Excitement is building for the new season of Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) in Dubai, with early registration figures at the highest levels since the popular coaching course was launched three years ago.

MUSS, operated in the UAE by Dubai Sports City, offers young people the opportunity to learn to play football “the United way,” through their skills development programme, created in line with the philosophy of the famous Manchester United Youth Academy.

The third season of the MUSS program in Dubai, which is being titled sponsored for the first time by Milo, will begin on November 3 this year, on the football grounds of the Jumeriah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches, and applications have flooded in from across the region.

“The response we have had so far has been incredible. This season will see over 50 nationalities being represented on the course, creating a truly multi-cultural sporting environment,” said Andrew Dixon, MUSS Project Coordinator and Coach.

Khalid Al Zarooni, President, Dubai Sports City said, “One of the most pleasing things from our point of view, is the significant increase in the proportion of GCC nationals who have signed up for this season, which is evidence of the increasing popularity of the sport in the region and is something which we are very proud to play a part in.”

The 20-week football coaching programme is open to boys and girls aged 7 – 18. As part of the programme, all participants will be given the chance to represent UAE at the MUSS World Skills Final, held at Manchester United’s famous Old Trafford stadium. Each child will also be given the opportunity to travel to Manchester to spend one week at the MUSS residential camp.

The Manchester United Soccer Schools Dubai is set to be permanently located in Dubai Sports City upon completion of its new facilities in 2008.
