EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana has urged the Israeli and Palestinian leaders to take risks for establishing peace in the Middle East, he told journalists Saturday.
In telephone talks with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, Solana said the two "as leaders, must take risks to make Middle East peace succeed ... it is the leaders who must open the way."
Solana said he had "hope the negotiations are not finished and a new impetus for negotiation will come in the following days".
He said the Camp David talks had not failed even if they ended Tuesday without an accord. "We advanced a lot and broke taboos," he said – LONDON (AFP)
