As part of its continuous efforts towards the professional development of its employees, Emirates Telecommunication Corporation – Etisalat - organized a graduation ceremony for 17 senior staff who graduated from the “Leadership Development Programme” (LDP).

The programme is part of two other HR initiatives aimed at maximizing the potential of its human capital.

Speaking about the programmes, Abdul Aziz Al Sawaleh, Executive Vice President, Human Resources, said: “Since its inception, Etisalat showed great concern toward career development of its employees. These programs conducted by Etisalat are intended to create leaders within the Corporation who can act as catalyst towards growth and development of Etisalat.”

The first program, the LDP is considered an important element of Etisalat's approach to development and commitment to nationalization. It is the first systematic development program that aims at providing Etisalat with a pool of highly motivated individuals from which the Corporation will develop its own skilled leaders prepared to meet the challenges of the Corporations' changing environment, Al Sawaleh noted.

During the ceremony, Etisalat announced the launch of the “Young Professionals Program“ (YPP) which aims to develop high potential junior staff into all rounded employees focusing within every department. It focuses not only to help employees learn new concepts but also to ensure that they cross the bridge from learning to doing.

Additionally, Etisalat will be launching shortly the “Future Leaders Programme” which will help Etisalat realize its vision of becoming the leading telecommunications company in the UAE and internationally. This program focuses on grooming a significant number of leaders who can act as Etisalat future CEOs.

Saoud Al Shamsi, Sales Manager, eCompany, said: “In light of a constantly changing environment, organizations can help their employees by empowering them with the right tools to deal with various challenges in a leadership role. In this regard, the LDP (Leadership Development Programme) has helped all the participants to gain valuable exposure to different aspects such as communication skills, project management etc.

It has helped me personally to become more people oriented rather than task oriented and has helped me to recognize different ways of doing things better. The strong leadership at Etisalat has been inspirational in terms of empowering people from within the Corporation to aspire to be leaders themselves. I would like to thank the management and all the committed individuals at the career development and progression unit at Etisalat for giving us such a wonderful programme.”
