A suspected member of ETA, the armed Basque separatist organization, was arrested here on Friday as he and an accomplice were preparing a terrorist attack, Interior Minister Jaime Mayor Oreja announced.
The two men were spotted by a routine police patrol as they were loitering near the home of a local politician.
Police managed to arrest one of the men, who was found to be in possession of a pistol, but the second man managed to escape.
Mayor Oreja said the two men "were preparing to act this very morning" in the capital of the Navarra region, which nationalists from the neighboring Basque country claim as part of the Basque homeland, Euskal Herria -- PAMPLONA (AFP)
