Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke Sunday with his Israeli and Palestinian counterparts, offering Ankara's aid in pursuing the "roadmap" to peace, his press service said in a statement.

In the course of phone conversations with Ariel Sharon and Mahmud Abbas, Erdogan said Turkey was "determined to contribute to efforts to reach a settlement that established two states with internationally recognized borders" between Israeli and Palestinian lands, the statement said.

Furthermore, he added progress in the Mid-East region's peace process was contingent upon the halt to "terrorism", and expressed sadness at the deaths of four Israeli soldiers, shot dead at a checkpoint Sunday. (Albawaba.com)
