The privatization of India's airports and its national carrier, Air-India, will be key factors in the emergence of Emirates airlines in the Asian travel market, the Gulf News reported.
Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation and chairman of Emirates was quoted by the daily as saying that the privatization of the Indian aviation industry would be a positive step, and one he hopes will be taken in the near future.
He said that Emirates was interested not only in shares in Air-India but also in the country's airports, both of which have been accused of failing to fully serve their markets.
"Privatization is a very positive thing because the current government monopoly is preventing new carriers from entering India," Sheikh Ahmed added - Albawaba.com
