Rebellious rap star Eminem is due in court tomorrow, October 10th, 2000 and the prosecutor he will face says the rapper should go to jail.

The My Name Is star is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and also carrying a dangerous weapon after an incident last June (99), when he is alleged to have attacked a man he saw kissing his now estranged wife Kim in the car park of a Detroit nightclub.

The pre-trial hearing begins tomorrow, and prosecutor Carl Malinga says if found guilty, he must face the consequences, which could mean five years in jail.

Malinga says, "he's like any other defendant for us in terms of

the economic consequences of his actions. I've made it clear to the

defense there should be some incarceration in his sentence for this

type of offence."

However, in August, 2000, Eminem's lawyers hinted that they would

consider a plea bargain on both charges, which would almost

certainly mean the rapper wouldn't face a jail sentence.

Even this, though, would not be the end of Eminem's problems; he

also faces separate gun possession charges relating to another

incident in Detroit last June (99) – Wenn.
